The "Real Alice in Wonderland"
Near The Beaches Hotel and Spa
Back in 1861, in a holiday home named “Penmorfa” on the West Shore of Llandudno, The Liddell family visited the seaside resort regularly and, as rumour has it, they were close friends with an Author named Charles Dogson, who we may know better as Lewis Carroll, the Creator of Alice in Wonderland.
It has been widely speculated that the famous book was inspired by the real Alice (Liddell) and her adventures around Llandudno. Although the evidence is a little sketchy, former Prime Minister David George unveiled the iconic White Rabbit Statue in 1933 and the connection was firmly sealed from that moment on.
There is now a series of Wonderland Town Trails with numerous statues along the way.
