Welsh Mountain Zoo

The Welsh Mountain Zoo, located in the hills overlooking Colwyn Bay, is just a 35 minute drive from us here at The Beaches Hotel and Spa, Prestatyn. It is known as the National Zoo of Wales whilst also being the oldest and most established too. Its founder, Robert Jackson, opened the doors to the Zoo in 1963 after pursuing his dreams in the conservation of rare and endangered species in the world.

About Welsh Mountain Zoo

The Zoo currently houses over 140 different animal species all housed within 37 acres of lush green Welsh land. They house Big Cats, Primates, Birds, Reptiles, Bears, Meerkats, Children’s Farm animals to name just a few! Not only does the Welsh Mountain Zoo boast conservation of animals, this also extends to their gardens, conserving flora and fauna with seeds and plants from around the world!
